Meeting Dr Jane Goodall
What a privilege to meet world environmental leader and role model, Dr. Jane Goodall at Forres Preparatory School and being part of the Roots and Shoots South Africa program.
We were all in awe of her gentle humble but assertive message of looking after our planet and all living things.
Sharing with us her personal story that poverty did not keep her away from education. She read from library's and second hand books to learn about her interest in primates. Through waitressing and secretarial work she saved money to travel to Africa, and that is how she followed her dream.
Addressing the kids she said: "anything, any dream is possible as long as you work hard at it.
Food for Ons Huisie
Further to the launch of a Power of Community movement in Ocean View earlier this year, Creating Change organized a backyard garden workshop at Ons Huisie Retirement Home in Ocean View on the 18th of November. Change Agents foraging at Cape of Good Hope Nursery
One of the objectives of Creating Change is to link children back to their heritage through indigenous edible plants usage for culinary and medicinal use.
Recently we took the Change Agents from the 4 different schools, Kleinberg Primary, Marine Primary, Ocean View Secondary and Ukanyo Primary to meet Roushanna Grey from Cape Good Hope Nursery who took them on a foraging walk on the mountain sharing knowledge and tasting different fynbos. Creating Change Conscious Lifestyle Program launch at Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre
The new ways to select, prepare and cook food, to protect the earth, improve our health, and eat deliciously! Creating Change, a Public Benefit Organisation has had the privilege with the assistance of Spur Foundation and GCX Africa to launch the Conscious Life Style Program to 2 Youth Groups at the Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre in Masiphumulele and another 2 Youth Groups at Marine and Kleinberg Primary Schools in Ocean View.
