​The Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre provides a safe place for recreation, sport, culture and fun. It underpins youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services,  a primary need for Masiphumelele who have walking acces and Ocean View youth (needs transport) between the age of 12 and 22.

 

The emphasis is on youth empowerment, education and reducing high risk sexual and lifestyle behaviours. It integrates recreation, education support and healthcare and fosters informed healthy lifestyle choices.

 

This fits in with the philosophy of Creating Change whom has been facilitating adhoc workshops since 2012 at the youth centre.

 

The very first vegetable youth garden at the Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre was launcehed and impemented in May 2014 through the Conscious Lifestyle Program facilitated by Creating Change.
