Backyard Food Gardens

 

Creating Change focuses on teaching good nutrition through natural gardening and cooking to school children. Rewarded 7 Change Agents from Ocean View Secondary School completed their own back yard salad and herb garden at the end of 2014.

 

These kids completed the one year Conscious Lifestyle program and helped implement the first youth garden at the Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre earlier this year.

 

Unfortunately the centre is in Masiphumulele and the kids don’t have daily access to this lush garden due to transport and therefor Creating Change rewarded these kids their own garden for their diligence, commitment and good behaviour throughout the year.

 

This ensures the child has access to their own garden as there is no access to schools after hours.
