Conscious lifestyles program launches at Desmond Tutu HIV Centre
18th March 2014
The new ways to select, prepare and cook food, to protect the earth, improve our health, and eat deliciously! Creating Change, a Public Benefit Organisation has had the privilege with the assistance of Spur Foundation and GCX Africa to launch the Conscious Life Style Program to 2 Youth Groups at the Desmond Tutu HIV Youth Centre in Masiphumulele and another 2 Youth Groups at Marine and Kleinberg Primary Schools in Ocean View.
Both Spur and GCX have enjoyed a successful relationship over the years with Creating Change through joint establishments for food gardens and tree planting events in under-served areas.
The program considers socio-economic and environmental issues as well as affordability, nutrition, health, hygiene, adaptation and sustainability. It also focuses on re-introducing culture and heritage to cooking as well as offering new choices in a fun and engaging way.
The first program runs over a 12-month period. Champion Change Agents will have the opportunity to qualify for the following 2 years, with the final year incorporating an entrepreneurs training program if funding is secured.
* Ongoing funding required to continue this program.
