


WESSA - Eco-Schools
The Eco-Schools Programme is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and is active in 51 countries around the world. Eco-Schools was initiated in South Africa in 2003, with WESSA as the implementing agent. The programme is aimed at creating awareness and action around environmental sustainability in schools and their surrounding communities as well as supporting ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) in the national curriculum. There are over 1,200 registered schools with the programme.
WESSA - Eco-Schools and Creating Change have been affiliated since 2011. Creating Change offer value added programs to the 5 Themes offered by WESSA Eco School which are:
Healthy Living
Biodiversity
Heritage
Resource Use
Global Issues
* Ongoing funding is required to facilitate these practical workshops to Eco Schools in disadvantaged areas in the Western Cape.
Jane Goodall Roots & Shoots
Roots & Shoots, a worldwide youth organization was formed by Dr. Jane Goodall to create awareness amongst youngsters on key issues such as the environment, animals and helping communities in need. By providing young people with positive experiences within their community and the natural world. Roots & Shoots aims to establish an ethic of care for the land, its people and its animals; to cultivate an understanding of the interdependence of all life on earth; to inspire love, respect, admiration and a high regard for its value.
Roots & Shoots and Creating Change have been affiliated since 2012 whereby Creating Change facilitates the Role Model and Domestic Animal Programs to children from disadvantaged communities.
